My name is Alex and I am ACJ Media.
I love working with people to combine ideas, share my passion and capture amazing moments in time.
Besides photography, one of my key attributes is my personality as I am relaxed, approachable and easy to get on with.
Like many people I hate stress and by using my experience and skills I can take the stress away from your event. This could be a PR shot screaming to be published, organising guests at a wedding, or portraying your emotive story for a feature.
My love for photography came at an early age when a camera would be glued to my hand. My passion grew in my teen years when my Dad bought me my first digital camera, which I took on a holiday to Newquay, Cornwall. Every night I would stand on top of the cliffs shooting out to the horizon enchanted by the beautiful array of colours cast by a setting sun.
Following the holiday my kit bag would grow with odds and sods of photography equipment in an aim to make it look full, hoping that one day I would know how to use them!
I pointed my life in the direction of photography and spent three years achieving a degree in Commercial photography at the University of Derby. Whilst working towards the qualification I managed to gain commissions from Volkswagen and Google.
My desire to continually progress is a never-ending adventure and has taken me to some great places already, including: coverage of the worlds first fashion show on the runways of London Tower Bridge, assisting for Golf Monthly and Men’s fitness magazine and being on the set of Eric and Ernie for the Radio Times.

With my experiences of different areas of photography I cut my teeth working for the Derby Telegraph newspaper and Derbyshire magazine. I spent a fantastic four years there in which I picked up an NCTJ award from Sir Michael Parkinson (embarrassingly whilst I was fundraising for Movember), Highly Commended and other nominations at the Midlands Media Awards.
Working in such a fast paced environment taught me how to be prepared for anything and to make the most of the moments when time is against you. I have photographed almost everything under the sun with a career highlight documenting the Queen’s visit to Chatsworth house!
In short, I’m a really nice bloke who’s easy to work with and has bags of experience and even more to offer! If you have any queries about my services or would like to get in touch to discuss a future project I would love to hear from you!
